Emily approaches each song as a story, and aims to write her experiences through the lens of a storyteller. Being homeschooled as a child, Emily grew up reading lots of books. She fell in love with how stories could transport you to another world and put you in someone else’s shoes. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be a writer. From the moment she got her first guitar, she began to put to song the stories she had been writing since she was a child. Building worlds not only with words, but with sound, opened Emily up to a whole new realm of creativity.

 

Growing up as a child to missionary parents, gave Emily the opportunity to live all across the country and even across the world, which has shaped her into the artist she is today. Emily has lived everywhere from Texas to North Carolina and all the way to Berlin, Germany, giving her a unique lens and perspective on life and art. As a young teen, she moved with her family back to the U.S. and eventually landed in Los Angeles, California, where she began pursuing her love of music and songwriting and began performing at local venues.

 

Emily strives to create a world for her listeners to get lost in and make music that fosters a safe space where one can find hope, peace and self-worth.
